Chikfash III

Inspired by a landmark fashion exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art, ChikFash III celebrates the drama, elegance, and imaginative spirit of haute couture. The work belongs to Rolando Diaz’s Chic Fashion series, which explores women’s fashion as a form of artistic expression.

Through mixed media, Diaz combines traditional portraiture with visual distortions reminiscent of digitally manipulated imagery. The fragmented treatment of the face reflects the influence of contemporary computer culture, creating a striking tension between the human figure and the digital world. An extravagant, sculptural hat crowns the composition, recalling the theatrical designs that originally inspired the series.
